Dafür gibt es mehrere Gründe wie z.B. ethnische und politische Unterdrückung und geographische Mobilität.Diese Faktoren tragen alle auf eigene Art dazu bei, dass verschiedene Menschen mit verschiedenen Sprachen in teilweise länger andauernden Verbindungen stehen. Dänemark ist dafür ein gutes Beispiel. Über 200 Jahre hinweg war Dänemark eine mehrsprachige Gesellschaft, in der nur Dänisch als offizielle Sprache gesehen wurde. Die sprachlichen Minderheiten waren so klein und wurden als unbedeutend bewertet, dass sie nicht beachtet wurden (vgl.JØRGENSEN 135)Es gibt eine große Zahl an Menschen, die eine andere Muttersprache als die Sprache des Landes, in dem sie leben haben. Die Anzahl solcher Menschen nimmt auch immer weiter zu. Aus diesem Grunde kann man die Zahl der heutzutage existierenden Sprachen nicht genau bestimmen. Es wird zuerst auf die sozialen und ethnischen Ungleichheiten von Kindern und Jugendlichen im Bildungswesen eingegangen. Anschließend werden die Auswirkungen und das Problem, dass die Zweisprachigkeit von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit einem Migrationshintergrund zu ungleichen Bildungschancen führt, näher betrachtet. Dabei wird auf die Humankapitaltheorie eingegangen. Daraufhin werden die Korrekturmöglichkeiten und Sprachförderungen diskutiert. Diese Theorien werden mit wissenschaftlichen Texten untersucht und durch empirische Studien belegt. Die Sprache ist unser Hauptkommunikationsmittel und durch sie präsentieren wir uns. Kinder und Jugendliche mit einem Migrationshintergrund wachsen meist zweisprachig auf. Sie sprechen in ihrem Elternhaus oft ihre Muttersprache und müssen, vor allem Kinder aus der ersten Zuwanderungsgeneration, in der Schule eine neue Sprache lernen, um sich integrieren zu können. Dies führt meistens zu schulischen Problemen, da es sprachlich zu einem ¿Nullsummenproblem¿ kommen kann und der Erwerb von einem kompetenten Bilingualismus von verschiedenen Faktoren abhängt.
