Ein Zahlenbeispiel soll das näher erläutern. Wenn man z.B. Komponenten in der Umgebung von 250 Hz mit einer Auflösung von 1 mHz erfassen möchte, benötigt man bei einer Abtastfrequenz von 1000 Hz eine FFT mit einer Million Werten. Eine FFT mit dieser Anzahl von Werten ist nicht effizient und stellt einen großen Aufwand dar. Es wird hier gezeigt, wie man mit normalen Größen der FFT (z.B. mit 512, 1024 oder 2048 Werten) die gewünschte Auflösung, in einem begrenzten Bereich, erreichen kann.
