Springer US Middleware Networks
Anbieter: Link.springer.com Preis: 160,49 €Middleware Networks: Concept, Design and Deployment of Internet Infrastructure describes a framework for developing IP Service Platforms and emerging managed IP networks with a reference architecture from the AT&T; Labs GeoPlex project. The main goal is to present basic principles that both the telecommunications industry and the Internet community can see as providing benefits for service-related network issues. As this is an emerging technology, the solutions presented are timely and significant. Middleware Networks: Concept, Design and Deployment of Internet Infrastructure illustrates the principles of middleware networks, including Application Program Interfaces (APIs), reference architecture, and a model implementation. Part I begins with fundamentals of transport, and quickly transitions to modern transport and technology. Part II elucidates essential requirements and unifying design principles for the Internet. These fundamental principles establish the basis for consistent behavior in view of the explosive growth underway in large-scale heterogeneous networks. Part III demonstrates and explains the resulting architecture and implementation. Particular emphasis is placed upon the control of resources and behavior. Reference is made to open APIs and sample deployments. Middleware Networks: Concept, Design and Deployment of Internet Infrastructure is intended for a technical audience consisting of students, researchers, network professionals, software developers, system architects and technically-oriented managers involved in the definition and deployment of modern Internet platforms or services. Although the book assumes a basic technical competency, as it does not provide remedial essentials, any practitioner will find this useful, particularly those requiring an overview of the newest software architectures in the field.

Springer US Active Middleware Services
Anbieter: Link.springer.com Preis: 106,99 €The papers in this volume were presented at the Second Annual Work shop on Active Middleware Services and were selected for inclusion here by the Editors. The AMS workshop was organized with support from both the National Science Foundation and the CAT center at the Uni versity of Arizona, and was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 1, 2000, in conjunction with the 9th IEEE International Symposium on High Performance Distributed Computing (HPDC-9). The explosive growth of Internet-based applications and the prolifer ation of networking technologies has been transforming most areas of computer science and engineering as well as computational science and commercial application areas. This opens an outstanding opportunity to explore new, Internet-oriented software technologies that will open new research and application opportunities not only for the multimedia and commercial world, but also for the scientific and high-performance computing applications community. Two emerging technologies - agents and active networks - allow increased programmability to enable bring ing new services to Internet based applications. The AMS workshop presented research results and working papers in the areas of active net works, mobile and intelligent agents, software tools for high performance distributed computing, network operating systems, and application pro gramming models and environments. The success of an endeavor such as this depends on the contributions of many individuals. We would like to thank Dr. Frederica Darema and the NSF for sponsoring the workshop.

Springer Berlin Heidelberg Middleware 2000
Anbieter: Link.springer.com Preis: 53,49 €Middleware is everywhere. Ever since the advent of sockets and other virtu- circuit abstractions, researchers have been looking for ways to incorporate high- value concepts into distributed systems platforms. Most distributed applications, especially Internet applications, are now programmed using such middleware platforms. Prior to 1998, there were several major conferences and workshops at which research into middleware was reported, including ICODP (International C- ference on Open Distributed Processing), ICDP (International Conference on Distributed Platforms) and SDNE (Services in Distributed and Networked - vironments). Middleware’98was a synthesis of these three conferences. Middleware 2000 continued the excellent tradition of Middleware’98. It p- vided a single venue for reporting state-of-the-art results in the provision of distributed systems platforms. The focus of Middleware 2000 was the design, implementation, deployment, and evaluation of distributed systems platforms and architectures for future networked environments. Among the 70 initial submissions to Middleware 2000, 21 papers were - lected for inclusion in the technical program of the conference. Every paper was reviewed by four members of the program committee. The papers were judged - cording to their originality, presentation quality, and relevance to the conference topics. The accepted papers cover various subjects such as caching, re?ection, quality of service, and transactions.

Anbieter: Link.springer.com Preis: 53,49 €We are pleased to welcome you to the eleventh edition of the Middleware c- ference. The program this year is a sign of the robustness, activity, and cont- ued growth of the Middleware community. As computing technology around us has evolved rapidly over the past decade, our notions of middleware have also adapted so that we stay focused on the most challenging and relevant problems for the present and future. As a result, this year’s program features papers that belong to both tra- tional areas as well as new directions. Cloud computing, social middleware, and transactional memory are some of the vanguard areas that you will ?nd in this year’s selection of papers. In addition, topics that have always been central to the community are also prominent this year, including publish-subscribe, mul- cast, reliability, legacy,location-awareness,trust, and security. The community’s wise evolutionre?ects the dynamic role that middleware continues to play in the development of current software systems. The program underscores the competitive selection process applied by us and the technical programcommittee: out of 116 papers submitted this year,we accepted 18 for regular publication. In addition Middleware 2010 also includes a new category of “Big Ideas Papers,” which are bold white papers with the potentialtodrivelonger-terminnovationinthe?eld.Weselectedone“bigideas” paper this year. Our industrial track once againbrings forth papers that explore middleware foundations in the context of industrial practice. Finally, multiple workshops and a doctoral symposium round o? Springer Berlin Heidelberg Middleware 2008
Anbieter: Link.springer.com Preis: 53,49 €This volume contains the proceedings of the International Middleware Con- rence, held in Leuven, Belgium during December 1–4, 2008. This year marked the ninth rendition of this annual conference in its current format initially - opted in 1998, aspiring to serve as the premier venue focusing exclusively on important middleware results. A lot has happened over the intervening 10-year span. Middleware has become pervasive in an increasinglyinterconnected world, with its concepts now securely embedded in the notional architectures driving forward the information age. The conference continues to be a focal point for important new initiatives and results for new generations of middleware. With each succeeding year, it has become an even more competitive publishing venue, further extending its selectivity this year as well. Of the 117 submissions, - ly 21 were able to receive acceptance invitations, for an acceptance rate of less than18%. Competitiveindeed. Additionally, thesesubmissionscontinuetocome from all over the globe, spanning authors from 23 countries. A truly world-wide endeavor. But other things have also changed as we turn the corner on the ?rst decade of this conference. In many ways, middleware has achieved signi?cant success where it really counts: in terms of technical innovations, advanced capabilities, successful ideas, and ?elded systems which permeate society, industry, gov- nment, and academia. With this success comes maturity.
