F.A. Hayek The Road to Serfdom
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 16.95 € (+2.70 €)The Road to Serfdom remains one of the all-time classics of twentieth-century intellectual thought. For over half a century, it has inspired politicians and thinkers around the world, and has had a crucial impact on our political and cultural history. With trademark brilliance, Hayek argues convincingly that, while socialist ideals may be tempting, they cannot be accomplished except by means that few would approve of. Addressing economics, fascism, history, socialism and the Holocaust, Hayek unwraps the trappings of socialist ideology. He reveals to the world that little can result from such ideas except oppression and tyranny. Today, more than fifty years on, Hayek's warnings are just as valid as when The Road to Serfdom was first published.

F A Hayek Pure Theory of Capital
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 13.01 € (+2.70 €)Hayek's most detailed work in economic theory, \"The Pure Theory of Capital\" has long been overlooked. First published in 1941, it stood in sharp contrast with fashionable economic thought, which had shifted under the influence of John Maynard Keynes. This publication represents Hayek's last major work in economics. This volume offers a detailed account of the equilibrium relationships between inputs and outputs in a time-filled economy. Hayek's stated objective was to make capital theory -- which had previously been devoted almost entirely to the explanation of interest rates -- \"useful for the analysis of the monetary phenomena of the real world.\" His ambitious goal was nothing less than to develop a capital theory that could be fully integrated into business cycle theory. Hayek's manifesto of captial theory is now available again for today's students and economists to discover. The introduction, by Hayek expert Lawrence H White, firmly situates the book in a historical and theoretical context, as well as within Hayek's own life and his struggle to complete the manuscript. It provides important insights into Hayek's theories, the intellectual environment in which he wrote, and the personal context of this important work.

Dario Antiseri Von Hayek visto da
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 13.30 € (+2.70 €)Friedrich von Hayek (Wien, 1899-Freiburg i.

F A Hayek Business Cycles: Part I
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 13.01 € (+2.70 €)In the years following its publication, F A Hayeks pioneering work on business cycles was regarded as an important challenge to what was later known as Keynesian macroeconomics. Today, as debates rage on over monetary origins of the current economic and financial crisis, economics are once again paying heed to Hayeks thoughts on the repercussions of excessive central bank interventions. Business Cycles, Part II assembles twelve of Hayeks shorter papers on the topic, ranging from 1920s to 1981, his final word on the subject. They include four previously unpublished works.

Friedrich, A. Hayek The Road to Serfdom
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 11.88 € (+2.70 €)This is a condensed edition of 'The Road to Serfdom' republished in this edition with 'The Intellectuals and Socialism' (originally published in 1949). In 'The Road to Serfdom' F. A. Hayek set out the danger posed to freedom by attempts to apply the principles of wartime economic and social planning to the problems of peacetime. Hayek argued that the rise of Nazism was not due to any character failure on the part of the German people, but was a consequence of the socialist ideas that had gained common currency in Germany in the decades preceding the outbreak of war. Such ideas, Hayek argued, were now becoming similarly accepted in Britain and the USA. On its publication in 1944, 'The Road to Serfdom' caused a sensation. Its publishers could not keep up with demand, owing to wartime paper rationing. Then, in April 1945, Reader's Digest published a condensed version of the book and Hayek's work found a mass audience. This condensed edition was republished for the first time by the IEA in 1999. Since then it has been frequently reprinted. There is an enduring demand for Hayek's relevant and accessible message.\nThe 'Road to Serfdom' is republished in this impression with 'The Intellectuals and Socialism' originally published in 1949, in which Hayek explained the appeal of socialist ideas to intellectuals - the 'second-hand dealers in ideas'. Intellectuals, Hayek argued, are attracted to socialism because it involves the rational application of the intellect to the organisation of society, while its utopianism captures their imagination and satisfies their desire to make the world submit to their own design.
