Bob Odenkirk Comedy, Comedy, Comedy, Drama: The Sunday Times bestseller
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 15.68 € (+2.70 €)*THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES & NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER*\n\n'A real gem of a book for comedy fans... honest, irreverent and fascinating' Matt Lucas\n\n'Bob Odenkirk is not only a brilliant comedy writer and performer, he is also a comedy fan. This book is a love letter to all his comedy heroes, full of warmth, heart and wit' Georgia Pritchett\n\n 'Bob is one of the sharpest comedy writers and actors working today. This is a wonderful memoir ... I devoured it in one sitting' David Walliams\n\n'I loved this book. I was in a lift with Bob once, back in the 90s - little did I know how high he was going' Harry Hill\n\n-------------------------------------------------------------\n\nIn this hilarious, heartfelt memoir, the star of Mr. Show and Breaking Bad spin off Better Call Saul opens up about the highs and lows of showbiz, his cult status as a comedy writer, and what it's like to reinvent himself at age fifty as an action-film ass-kicker.\n\nBob Odenkirk's career is inexplicable. And yet he will try like hell to explicate it for you. Charting a \"Homeric\" decades-long \"odyssey\" from his origins in the seedy comedy clubs of Chicago to a dramatic career full of award nominations-with a side-trip into the action-man world that is baffling to all who know him-it's almost like there are many Bob Odenkirks! But there is just one, and one is plenty.\n\nBob embraced a life in comedy after a chance meeting with Second City's legendary Del Close, then somehow made his way to a job as a writer at Saturday Night Live. While surviving that legendary gauntlet by the skin of his gnashing teeth, he stashed away the secrets of comedy writing-eventually employing them in the immortal \"Motivational Speaker\" sketch for Chris Farley, honing them on The Ben Stiller Show, and perfecting them on Mr. Show with Bob and David.\n\nIn Hollywood, Bob demonstrated a bullheadedness that would shame Sisyphus himself, and when all hope was lost for the umpteenth time, the phone rang with an offer to appear on Breaking Bad-a show about how boring it is to be a high school chemistry teacher. His embrace of this strange new world of dramatic acting led him to working with Steven Spielberg, Alexander Payne, and Greta Gerwig, and then, in a twist that will confound you, he re-re-invented himself as a bona fide action star. Why? Read this and do your own psychoanalysis-it's fun!\n\nFeaturing humorous tangents, never-before-seen photos, wild characters, and Bob's trademark unflinching drive and humour, Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama is a classic showbiz tale told by a determined idiot.\n\n'I can't think of another entertainer who has improbably morphed so many times and all through real genius and determination' Conan O'Brien\n\n'An exceptionally and uniquely talented man who has had a huge influence on comedy for over thirty years. And now he's given us his P.O.V. of that journey. This book is filled not only with lessons on \"making\" \"it\" in \"showbiz\" but also regular old life...

Hans-Adolf Jacobsen Dunkirk
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 33.31 €The German Army invaded France on 10 May 1940, and in just over ten days their rapid advance, led by three panzer corps, had left three French field armies, Belgian forces and the British Expeditionary Force with their backs to the sea, trapped along the northern coast of France. General Gort realised that evacuation was the only option, and so began a chaotic withdrawal towards the port of Dunkirk.\n\nWhile the Luftwaffe continued to attack pockets of Allied forces, the German ground forces were ordered to halt their advance on 22 May. These orders were changed four days later, but these crucial four days of inaction allowed the Allies time to retreat into Dunkirk and prepare a defensive perimeter.\n\nThe fighting during the last days of May was desperate, with the remnants of the French First Army surrounded at Lille, holding off seven German divisions until finally forced to surrender, and the Belgian Army forced to capitulate to the east of Dunkirk. Though the cost was devastatingly high, Dunkirk was held long enough for over 300,000 Allied troops to be evacuated back to England, with the remainder of the rearguard of French troops surrendering on 4 June.\n\nThe British narrative of the retreat and evacuation that prompted perhaps Winston Churchill's most famous wartime speech has always been well-known; however only now is Hans-Adolf Jacobsen's detailed account of the battle from the German perspective available in English.

Nigel Sharp Dunkirk Little Ships
Venditore: Ibs.it Prezzo: 18.99 € (+2.70 €)In May 1940, following the rapid advance of German troops through Holland, Belgium and France, the British Expeditionary Force and French army retreated to Dunkirk. Operation Dynamo was instigated in an attempt to rescue as many of them as possible. With the harbour at Dunkirk severely damaged, much of the evacuation would have to take place from the beaches; only small, shallow-draught boats could do this. After appealing to boatyards, yacht clubs and yachtsmen throughout the South East of England, the Admiralty managed to round up around 700 small craft which, along with 200 military vessels, were able to rescue an astonishing 338,226 troops over nine days.\n\nIn 1965, forty-three vessels which had taken part in the evacuation commemorated the twenty-fifth anniversary by crossing from Ramsgate to Dunkirk, and the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships was formed soon afterwards. More than fifty years on, over 120 Little Ships are still in commission and it is thought that hundreds of others may still survive.\n\nThis is their story.
